I currently specialize in working with Retailers (any physical locations including small businesses such as coffee shops) and E-Commerce Stores. The best situation is a small business utilizing QuickBooks Online and an External POS System such as: Stripe, Square, Shopify, Clover, etc. This service allows you to fully outsource your small business's monthly bookkeeping task. In my own professional life, I highly value my autonomy and professional integrity. I do not hire outside contractors to complete your bookkeeping, it is me and me alone you will be hiring as your professional bookkeeper. Because of this, I set a maximum number of clients that I will take on at any one given time for this service.   • I thoroughly enjoy the problem-solving in these projects, so send me your messy bookkeeping files, the messier the better! Unlike my outsourced freelance bookkeeper service where I specialize in retailers and e-commerce stores, I will take on projects within any small business industry for these projects. What this project entails is a complete clean-up/catch-up for a determined date range (usually depending on past tax filings). The end goal of this service is to turn your messy bookkeeping file (or lack thereof) into an up-to-date and tax-compliant (accurate Profit and Loss & Balance Sheet Reports) file.   • Looking for a full-service payroll provider. I do not provide full-service payroll. However, I do help integrate payroll software into bookkeeping software and also know some great full-service payroll providers that I could introduce you to.

  • Looking for a bookkeeper to take over your QuickBooks Desktop file. I do not work with QuickBooks Desktop.

  • Looking for someone to enter things such as invoices and bills. I do not provide these kinds of services directly. However, I will provide training on how to do this on your end during the onboarding of an outsourced monthly bookkeeping service.

  • Looking for one-on-one training. At this time, I am not offering one-on-one training as a stand-alone service. However, I do provide a plethora of online training resources such as articles, YouTube videos, and online courses. Additionally, one-on-one training services can be provided in addition to any of the paid service offerings including a purchase of a paid online course or a sign-up of a paid service such as the outsourced monthly bookkeeping service.

  • Looking for bookkeeping services for your non-profit. I currently only work within the world of for-profit small businesses. 

My mission is simple. In my personal life, my overarching life philosophy is to best live it in a way that limits the chance of later regret as much as possible. To me, this does not entail going crazy with partying or anything. Actually it is the opposite, it involves constantly pushing myself out of my comfort zone and living with intense discipline. The overarching direction comes down to pursuing the completion of the goals on my “Life Goals List”. On my career side, I knew that a change was needed in order to more intentionally pursue this direction. The biggest change here was creating a career involving more autonomy and control. So, Essentially Intentional, LLC was created. Pursing knowledge from people like Cal Newport, author of “So Good They Can’t Ignore You”, I knew that in order to pursue a career life of more autonomy and control, some actual skills on my end needed to be offered to the marketplace in return. These skills offered are: Leadership and setting up efficient systems from my days as an Operations Manager, Accounting from graduating with my Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Teaching and Video Production from my experience of running a YouTube channel dedicated to teaching small business owners how to gain more control of their business financials and all the other small business bookkeeping/accounting specific skills involved in running Essentially Intentional, LLC for many years now. 

Essentially Intentional’s mission is simple. I believe that one of the biggest factors in your ability to lead a more intentional life is more autonomy and control, especially when it comes to what you do in order to generate income. That is what I myself have focused so much energy towards for years now in order to work towards living a more intentional life. So, I simply took the combination of my professional skills and combined them with a need in the marketplace that I care about in order to come up with an overarching mission for Essentially Intentional. Essentially Intentional’s mission is this:

I came across Gunnar as he was completing a in-depth tutorial with QuickBooks Online on YouTube. I can’t tell you how much he changed my life that day. His in-depth knowledge of QuickBooks online was beyond a CPA I hired through the QB website to set up my books. Gunnar has exemplary communication for explaining accounting procedures and translating my unique needs for my business to QuickBooks Online. He set me up for success. I have templates, a better understanding of work arounds for matching significant transactions that QB doesn’t naturally coordinate with, and a clearing account for my ebay.

My husband is a reseller on ebay and we transitioned between two types of payment methods (paypal and bank). A workflow for each of these types of funding sources were required. The amount of work Gunnar put in just to make sure my Paypal feeds that do not translate perfectly into QBO were 100% accurate to the cent was amazing. You will not find another person that gives you such value for your money. His hourly rate for the headache he removes, the efficiency he provides, and the training is simply affordable. I had a CPA hired during the same time and I had to pay Gunnar to fix my bank reconciliations he worked on.

Inventory, Journal Entries, Personal and Business comingled linked accounts (would not advise this ever!), Sales orders, Credit Card Payments with interest, Paypal, Ebay direct deposit, and Payroll are things this amazing person did to train me as a business owner to take control of my finances.
